How does Hunt for the Welly People work?

It's simple and easy! You'll receive a set of clues that you can access from your mobile phone browser that lead you on a journey through Wellington, discovering hidden gems around the city.

Each clue requires you to take a photo to send back and gets you exploring the city in a unique way.

Do NOT use the back, forward or refresh buttons on your phone while you are doing the Hunt.

It's a self-guided adventure, perfect for all ages.

What should I know before I show up?

We highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes as you'll be exploring Wellington on foot! Bring a fully charged phone (with data to receive text and send images) to capture all the fun moments and perhaps even some of your own Welly People to help you discover along the way.

Is there any advice to make my Welly People hunt even better?

Absolutely! Take your time, enjoy the journey, and look up, down, and all around! Feel free to stop for a coffee or a bite to eat at one of Wellington's many fantastic cafes or check out some of the funky shops and venues along your route. Make it a full day of adventure!

How long does the Hunt take?

The duration can vary depending on your pace and how many stops you make. On average, most hunts take between 1 to 2 hours to complete. You can always take longer, have a pitstop, eat a schnack, grab a bevvie and make a day of it!

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking your Hunt in advance to ensure you receive your digital instructions via email before you start your adventure. You can easily book online through our website. If you are wanting a Custom Hunt (for a birthday, hens do, stag do, corporate team-building or school group) then get in touch at least 2 weeks before your event.

Is the Hunt suitable for children?

Definitely! Hunt for the Welly People is designed to be fun for all ages. It's a great activity for families, friends, school and corporate groups or even a solo explorer. A wonderful way to get out there and stretch your legs.

What if it rains?

Wellington weather can be unpredictable! We recommend checking the forecast before you head out. If it looks rainy, chuck on your raincoat – there are still things out there waiting to be found! Once you have received your digital instructions you are free to do the Hunt whenever you would like. However, support is only available for the time that you originally booked.
